- IOM guidelines by pre-pregnancy BMI: Underweight (<18.5): 28β40 lbs. Normal (18.5β24.9): 25β35 lbs. Overweight (25β29.9): 15β25 lbs. Obese (β₯30): 11β20 lbs.
- Most women gain 1β4 lbs in the first trimester, then about 1 lb per week in the second and third trimesters. Morning sickness can cause weight loss early on.
